Remnant University was established in 1997 with the fundamental mindset of training leaders with faith in Christ, by granting all students with the required academic background and moral qualifications with an equal opportunity to receive education.
As a non-profit organization, Remnant University is not bound to any particular denomination or political stance and has been established for the express purpose of nurturing Gospel-oriented elites for the sake of extending the kingdom of God.
In 2009, the name of the University was changed to “Remnant University,” which better reflects the University’s purpose and educational goals. Remnant University was originally named “American University of California” from 1997 to 2009.
In 2023, Remnant University moved to its current campus in Hurst, Texas, located midway between Dallas and Fort Worth.
Remnant University, located in Hurst, Texas, has notified the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board of its status as a religious postsecondary educational institution that will only offer programs in religious studies. The institution will offer the following degrees:
• Master of Divinity;
• Master of Missiology;
• Bachelor of Missiology.
Provided that Remnant University’s offered degrees are, as you have informed us, entirely religious in nature, it falls within the exception for authorization in 19 Texas Administrative Code § 7.9 implementing H.E.B. Ministries v. Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, 235 S.W.3d 627 (2007), and does not require approval of the Coordinating Board.
Remnant University is not accredited by an accrediting agency recognized by the United States Secretary Of Education.
