1. Institutional Status & Accreditation
Remnant University is a private, non-profit theological seminary located in Hurst, Texas, USA. The institution operates under the religious exemption provisions of the Texas Education Code, Section 61.304, which exempt institutions offering solely degrees and certificates of a religious nature from standard stat postsecondary regulations administered by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB).
IMPORTANT — Accreditation Status: Remnant University does NOT hold regional or national accreditation recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (USDOE) or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). Our programs are designed exclusively for ecclesiastical, pastoral, and ministerial preparation.
2. State Authorization & Distance Education
1. TEXAS AUTHORIZATION
Remnant University is authorized to operate as a religious-exempt postsecondary institution in the State of Texas under Texas Education Code, Section 61.304. This exemption applies to institutions that offer solely religious degrees and certificates.
2. OUT-OF-STATE DISTANCE EDUCATION POLICY
Each U.S. state independently regulates postsecondary education delivered to its residents. Remnant University’s Texas religious exemption does not automatically extend to students residing in other states.
Remnant University monitors applicable state laws and only enrolls students from states where it is legally permitted to deliver distance education programs.
Prospective students residing outside Texas should contact ru@rtuniv.org to confirm enrollment eligibility for their state of residence before submitting an application.
3. Professional Licensure Disclosure
Programs offered by Remnant University are designed exclusively for religious and ministerial vocations.
None of the degrees, certificates, or courses offered by Remnant University are intended to meet the educational prerequisites for any state-regulated professional licensure, including:
State-licensed professional counseling (LPC/LMFT), Licensed clinical social work (LCSW), State school teaching certification, Licensed pastoral counseling (where state-regulated), Any other state- or federally-regulated professional credential
Students who wish to pursue state-regulated professional licensure should consult the relevant state licensing board and seek appropriate education from a regionally or nationally accredited institution.
4. International Student Disclosures
U.S. STUDENT VISA & IMMIGRATION STATUS
Remnant University’s programs are delivered 100% online. Enrollment does NOT qualify international students for a U.S. student visa (F-1) or a Form I-20. All international students must complete their entire course of study from their country of residence. Remnant University does not issue Forms I-20 under any circumstances.
FOREIGN CREDENTIAL RECOGNITION
Remnant University makes no guarantee regarding:
(1) the transferability of credits to other institutions;
(2) the recognition of degrees by foreign governments or ministries of education;
(3) the acceptance of degrees for ordination, employment, or professional purposes in any country.
It is the sole responsibility of each international student to investigate whether a degree from a religious-exempt, unaccredited U.S. institution will be recognized in their home country. Many foreign ministries of education do not recognize unaccredited degrees.
LANGUAGE OF INSTRUCTION
All instruction, course materials, assignments, and examinations at Remnant University are conducted in English and/or Korean. International applicants whose primary language of literacy is not English or Korean must demonstrate sufficient language proficiency for graduate-level theological study.
LOCAL MINISTRY PRACTICUM
For programs requiring a local ministry practicum, international students are responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable laws in their country of residence governing religious training and ministry activities.
5. Student Complaint & Grievance Process
INTERNAL GRIEVANCE PROCEDURE
Students with a complaint regarding academic matters, institutional policies, faculty conduct, or distance education services should follow the procedures outlined in the current Academic Catalog and Student Handbook.
- Step 1: Contact the instructor or faculty member directly
- Step 2: Submit written complaint to the Office of Academic Affairs
- Step 3: Appeal to the President of the University
- Step 4: Final institutional decision issued within 30 days
EXTERNAL COMPLAINT — OUT-OF-STATE STUDENTS
Students residing outside of Texas who feel their complaint was not resolved through internal channels may contact the higher education regulatory agency in their state of residence. Contact information for state agencies is available from the Office of Academic Affairs at ru@rtuniv.org.
